Downloadable PDF and digital products

This app allows you to sell digital products such as PDF files, images, or the like. This is done by adding a link on the products, this link will be available to your customers through the order confirmation and "my account".

Step 1: Upload the products you wish to sell. You now get a direct link that can be used for download. This link should be used in step 3.

Step 2: Create a variant explaining what you're going to sell (e.g. PDF, image, etc.)

Step 3: Add the direct link to the variant, after the variant has been added to the product. 

How to upload your digital products

In order to offer customers digital products, these must first be available for download. Here are the steps to upload your files.

Option 1: create a page in your control panel where you can upload your files

Go to Design > Main Menu/Content. This page should only be used by you and should therefore be deactivated from the online store.  The name of the page can be "Recipes - Should be hidden", see picture of how this can be set up.

On this page, you can choose to upload the files you want customers to be able to buy. This is done as follows. 

1. Tap the photo upload icon
2. Tap Upload > Choose File > Send it to Server. 
3. Copy the link generated by the upload. This file links directly to the file you uploaded.
4. Paste the link behind the name of your online store. 

Example of link https://www.datakasse.mystore.no/users/mystore_mystore_no/images/installasjonsveileder.pdf

Important! Remember to save this link as this should be added to the product that will contain the digital product.

Option 2: Upload files through another provider such as Dropbox or Google Drive.

For this to work, it is important that the links are open for download. The link should be added in the same way as when uploading via the control panel. 

How to create digital products in the Control Panel

As soon as the link is created and ready for download, the link must be made available towards the desired product.

To link the link to a product in the control panel, a custom variant must be added that makes it clear to the customer that they need to choose a format. The variant is created as an ordinary variant.

Step 1: Create the variant to apply to the product.

In the image below, we have selected the variant type Drop-down menu and given the main variant the name Choose format. We have chosen to name the variant PDF since we are going to sell PDF files. If the customer had to choose between PDF, Paper and Image, we would add the name of all these options. 

Step 2: Connect the new variant to the products that will contain digital files

Now you can embed the variant and direct link of the digital product on the product to be sold in the online store.

1: Enter the variant you have created on the product. In the example, the main variant is called Select format and the variant is PDF. 

2: Enter the direct link you got when you uploaded the file earlier. Remember to check that there are no spaces before or after the link when pasting the product.

How to Sell Digital Products

In the online store, the digital products will be available as a regular product with a variant choice. 

When a customer purchases a product with the link entered, the file will immediately be available to the customer for download. In the order confirmation there will be a link that sends the customer to his account in the online store where the files are collected in the menu "Downloadable files".

On "my account", those who have purchased digital products will see a separate page called "Downloadable files".

On this page you will see all the files you have previously purchased, with a link to download them.

There will also be a link in the order confirmation that will be sent by email to the customer. If you wish to change the text of the email or on the page confirming the purchase, please contact kundeservice@mystore.no. 

Where do customers find their digital products?

When a customer purchases a digital product, this can easily be downloaded by logging into their account in the online store.
